Greetings From Lydia

Well, Hello World.
Welcome to Wandering Lydia. Why Wandering Lydia? When I started making art hats from recycled wool I thought it would be fun to have an alter ego who was as interesting and off beat as my sculptural hats, and so Lydia was born. When I was a kid I was given some Aunt Lydia rug yarn to play around with and the name just stuck in my head. I seem to recall that there was a drawing of a cross looking old maid on the label, but don't worry, this Lydia is nothing like that! My other Lydia inspiration was the character Lydia Deets from Beetlejuice. (though I was born too soon to be a goth in high school.) Wandering is the best way to describe my creative life. When anything and everything can be an art material there's always something new to try. And there you have it, Wandering Lydia.
I'm going to have to take some pictures. This is part of a rug I've been making from the bits leftover from the hats. Pretty time consuming but I love the result.

I love that character as well. Beetlejuice is a movie that I have seen many times as it was a favorite of my son's when he was under 3 years old. (He is now 18) It is still a favorite around here and I never tire of watching it. I too am far to old to have been a goth in school, as I grew up during the 60's and am very much a child of the hippie era, but I best describe myself as a hippie-goth.

We are both members of the FreeForm Crochet Yahoo group and saw your links in the posts there today. I have been looking through your albums on pbase and reading some of the entries here. Nice work!
